Greetings to you, from Upland Hunt Club!
We appreciate your interest in our club. My wife Sherry and I would like to invite you to tour our club and see for yourself what a great sporting opportunity we have to offer. This letter is being sent to say hello and introduce ourselves and let you know of the exciting new programs we’ve introduced at Upland. The club is open Tuesday thru Sunday by reservation only.
The heart and soul of any club is in its membership. I’m pleased to let you know, we have a great group of people at Upland, good hunters with great dogs and some pretty hot shooters on the clays course! To give you an opportunity to meet each other, we have Registered / Lewis Class shoots monthly from April thru October and our exciting Continental Pheasant shoots during the hunting season.
Our property is conveniently located just south of Rockford, Illinois, three miles west of Interstate 39. We are just minutes from the Rockford Airport and five major hotels. The club is bordered on the east by the picturesque Kilbuck Creek, one of only two creeks nationwide which run almost straight north. The bottom land of the Kilbuck provides a natural corridor for a variety of wildlife. To our north is the beautiful Kishwaukee River. The lowlands of these two waterways provide the setting for your outdoor pleasure. But that’s not all. The center of the property is high, rolling hills which afford you with views overlooking the wetlands that lie in the middle of the property to the south.
These naturally occurring landscapes, not only provide you with a great setting for your hunt; they serve the dual purpose of being the location for our elaborate sporting clays courses. We have clays like you have never seen before! Upland has five of the most esthetically pleasing and challenging sporting clays courses in the country. We have kept things as wild and natural as possible with just enough grooming to allow neatness and convenience. Whether you are practicing on your own or entertaining a corporate group, you’ll be pleased with our attention to detail!
The waterfowl course is set on the edge of the bottom land woods with the shots designed to represent the actual flight and landing patterns of waterfowl.
Our rabbit course is set on a steep, heavily wooded hillside that provides the backdrop for the scurrying, bouncing rascals. Tall oaks loom overhead, making a cozy setting for your shooting enjoyment.
A hilltop overlooking the wetlands, with shooting stations at different levels along its face is the location of our Upland course. With shots overhead, passing, right, left, downhill, going away and driven, all skill levels are tested.
And just in case that’s not enough we also have European and FITASC parcours available to show you what true world class targets look like. Not for the faint of heart.
We are pleased to announce the opening of our new Skeet field, built to NSSA specifications. Close to the clubhouse, it offers a quick shooting challenge and a great way to warm-up for your clays or bird hunt.
The club has many features available to serve you. Upland is a twelve month hunting facility. This allows you to hunt or train dogs year round. The hunting season now runs concurrently with your membership. It starts September 1st and goes through August 31st of the following year.
We purchase only the highest quality, flight conditioned birds. Our Manchurian Cross and Black pheasants, Chukar, Hungarian partridge and Bobwhite quail will have your heart pounding as they explode into the air and rocket away. These are some of the fastest, wiliest birds you’ve ever tried to hit! We’re confident you’ll agree it’s the closest thing you’ll find to the wild bird experience, this side of the Dakotas!
We have cut back on the farming acres and planted a variety of different cover. There is something for everybody, and lots of it! Pointers, flushers and setters all have cover to utilize each breeds natural talents. The layout also allows us to serve more of you at one time.
Our staff includes a group of mature, professional guides, trappers and grounds keepers to serve you. Whether you’re hunting or shooting clays or skeet, we’re sure you’ll appreciate the prompt courteous service our people will provide.
Upland’s clubhouse is a modern facility which sits atop one of the hills overlooking the hunting areas. It will seat forty people comfortably for dinner. With its large stone fireplace and ten seat bar, it provides a warm, cozy atmosphere for relaxing after the hunt. Our full service kitchen opens at 8:00 am and closes when you leave.
Sherry’s always busy in the kitchen, working up a new menu. Whether you prefer a hearty country style breakfast, sandwiches or home style dinners with fresh baked home-made desserts, we’ll have something sure to please.
To address the inquiries from prospective new members about membership packages, we asked the members who were using the club on a regular basis what they thought about it. Overwhelmingly, they all agreed they would like their membership to include birds and sporting clays. We have adjusted our rates to include this package to all members. A detailed breakdown on prices is listed on our rate sheet. We feel you will find we have one of the best deals in the hunt club market.
Private and corporate memberships are available on a limited basis. We are currently accepting applications for membership consideration. Our roster is nearly full. Applications will be taken on a first come, first served basis. We would like you to personally tour the property. The complete tour takes about two hours and includes a meal. This allows you see everything we have to offer and sample the food, an important consideration before joining any club.
Corporate applicants are asked to appoint a contact person to represent their group. Representatives are asked to supply a list of their respective members in the group, with the names, addresses and phone numbers of each member. The representative’s name should be at the top of the list. It will help us credit each account properly and keep our records current. We ask that all corporate membership payments be made with one check for the total amount due.
